Helena Moreno leads in polls for mayor's race

• 23% said they would vote for Oliver Thomas, and 11% said they would vote for Arthur Hunter.
• Moreno and Thomas are both council members and Hunter is a retired judge. See our running list of candidates.

Meanwhile, Michelle Woodfork's leading the polls in the Orleans Parish sheriff's race.

• 35% of respondents say they would vote for Woodfork, the former interim NOPD superintendent.
• Sheriff Susan Hutson came in a distant second with 12% of respondents saying they'd vote for her. Nearly 65% of respondents said they have an unfavorable opinion of her.
• The poll was taken after 10 inmates escaped from the Orleans Justice Center, which Hutson oversees. Two remain on the run.

How it works: Baton Rouge-based JMC is a consumer polling and political consulting firm. It was commissioned to conduct this poll for a political action committee not affiliated with a candidate.

• JMC said it polled 500 likely voters on May 27-28. The poll has a 4.4% margin of error.
