Vehicle access to Bourbon Street is focus of town hall meeting

The big picture: The public meeting is at 6pm at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel.

• NOPD and the Vieux Carré Property Owners, Residents and Associates organization will present initial recommendations from consulting firm Teneo, which was hired to review French Quarter security.
• The options range from banning all vehicles on Bourbon to opening it temporarily for deliveries to keeping it as is, which is mostly open, says Erin Holmes, executive director of VCPORA.
• "Everybody is going to say limited vehicular access, but unfortunately you can't keep this economic engine running with no access," she said.

Between the lines: Teneo won't be at the meeting. The firm gave its final report on Monday to the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation, which paid for Teneo's work.

• NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick, Mayor LaToya Cantrell and the City Council will be briefed next, says Darrah Schaefer, chairman of the foundation's board.
• The report is not public at this point, and a date hasn't been set yet for the City Council presentation.
