Must-try: Dong Phuong's king cake flight at Urban South

The maker of one of New Orleans' most sought-after king cakes teamed up with Urban South Brewery this year for a food experience that had people lining up around the building.
The big picture: Urban South sold flights of Dong Phuong Bakery's king cake paired with its beer. It's wrapped for the season, so make sure you add this to your list next year, or DIY your own tasting.
- For $22, you got four slices of different Dong Phuong cakes and four tasting-size pours of the brewery's Carnival Time King Cake sour ales in matching flavors.
- They included almond, coconut, strawberry and cream cheese.
If you go: Go early. I arrived five minutes before the brewery opened at 11am, and there was already a line around the building.
- It moved very quickly, though.
What's next: The king cake flights may be gone, but the brewery still has seasonal brews available.
- Plus, it sells whole Dong Phuong king cakes and has vendors outside for crawfish for the season.
