In-state tuition and fees at Louisiana's public universities have fallen 14% in the past five years when adjusted for inflation, according to a new College Board study.
The average in-state tuition and fees for this school year are $10,360. It's $23,300 for out-of-state students.
Zoom out: The national average is $11,610. If you include room and board and books, the average price is $29,910.
Between the lines: While average college tuition has steadily dropped over the past five years nationally, so has the amount of financial aid students receive.
Federal grant aid per student decreased nearly 4% in the same period, which is in line with decreases in enrollment.
Both of those numbers are almost half of what the aid was a decade ago.
