It's fall in New Orleans, but the trees don't know it yet.
Why it matters: South Louisiana is among the last locations in the country to get any fall foliage.
The big picture: Trees in the rest of the country are turning brilliant shades of red, orange and yellow.
In New Orleans, you are more likely to see green and brown right now (we need rain). You'd be lucky to see a yellow leaf.
South Louisiana will have to wait until at least Nov. 18 for partial fall foliage, according to travel brand SmokyMountains.com, which puts together annual foliage prediction maps of the U.S.
Peak foliage will be some time after that.
Zoom out: South Louisiana, South Texas and South Florida are the latest places in the U.S. to get fall color.
How it works: SmokyMountains.com uses historical weather reports, tree species info and user data for its predictions, writes Axios' Adam Tamburin.
The bottom line: Hit the road if you want to go leaf-peeping this month. Tennessee is the closest destination near peak, according to the map.
