The Delachaise is one of my go-to places when I want to enjoy a nice day in New Orleans with wine and cheese.
Why it matters: We made it through the miserable summer and it's time to soak in the gorgeous fall weather while it lasts.
The big picture: The Delachaise is a casual neighborhood bar on the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line near Touro.
- A friend and I went on a recent Sunday afternoon to catch up over a glass of wine under the trees. But I've eaten inside when the weather hasn't cooperated.
What we ordered: Pommes frites ($11), cheese board with charcuterie ($30) and house wine ($5).
- The bar is known for its fries cooked in goose fat and served with house-made peanut satay and malt vinegar aioli.
- We also picked three cheeses, got extra bread and snacked away while we talked on the patio.
- There are more substantial dishes on the full menu.
Other places to sit outside with charcuterie: St. James Cheese Co. (Uptown location), Bacchanal Wine, Bayou Beer Garden, Sylvain, Orleans Grapevine, Pluck Wine Bar and Copper Vine.
The bottom line: Our window for nice weather in New Orleans is tragically short. Enjoy every minute.
