John Besh to open seafood restaurant in New Orleans

The big picture: The seafood restaurant is called Delacroix Fish Camp & Bar, and it's going in the previous location for Poppy's Crazy Lobster, writes Ian McNulty with NOLA.com.

• The plan is to open early next year, maybe in time for the Super Bowl in February, Besh told McNulty.
• The menu will focus on regional cooking and local seafood. It will have an oyster bar too, the report says.

Catch up quick: Besh Restaurant Group, which was renamed BRG Hospitality after the scandal, is one of the city's largest restaurant owners.

• Its brands include August, Domenica, Luke, Shaya, Willa Jean and The Larder.
• Twenty-five women accused the company in 2017 of fostering a culture of sexual harassment, and several filed a discrimination complaint with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
• Besh stepped away from operations two days after the story broke in The Times-Picayune about the allegations, but remained a partner in the company.

In the aftermath, Besh, who previously was a common figure at events, disappeared from the public eye. Diners shunned his restaurants.

• And, there was a bitter legal battle between the chef and Alon Shaya, who opened Shaya and Domenica together.
• Alon Shaya left Besh's company and opened his own company, Pomegranate Hospitality. Its brands include Saba and Miss River.

Yes, but: Besh is working in his restaurants again, mainly behind the scenes, he told NOLA.com.

• And his business partner, Octavio Mantilla, recently was added as a commissioner on the Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority, according to a press release. It's the governing board for the convention center.
• Mantilla was nominated by the New Orleans chapter of the Louisiana Restaurant Association, the announcement said.
