Hang on a little longer, Buc-ee's fans, because the popular roadtrip pitstop is getting closer to New Orleans.
Why it matters: Buc-ee's has cultivated a loyal following of customers as an over-the-top gas station that focuses on snacks, beaver merchandise and clean bathrooms.
The big picture: Buc-ee's is a Texas-based chain that has been expanding its footprint nationally.
- The company is working on two stores in Louisiana and a third in Mississippi that would be about an hour away via Interstate 10.
- The closest one currently is in Alabama near Mobile.
Zoom in: Here's what we know about the new locations.
- Mississippi: The $50 million store is scheduled to open next summer at the intersection of Menge Avenue and I-10 in Pass Christian, according to the Biloxi Sun Herald.
- Ruston, Louisiana: This store is slated to open late next year on I-20, the Shreveport Times reports. It will be Louisiana's first Buc-ee's location.
- Lafayette, Louisiana: Buc-ee's plans to open one of its largest stores next year here. It would be on I-10 and likely have a beach theme, according to the Acadiana Advocate.
Meanwhile, Buc-ee's recently opened the world's largest convenience store in Texas between Houston and San Antonio on I-10, writes Axios' Kelly Tyko.
- At 75,000 square feet, it's almost 30 times the size of traditional convenience stores. The Lafayette store is expected to be about 74,000 square feet.
- The company now has 50 stores.
