Pizza Domenica's roasted cauliflower is a delicious vegetarian option

Pizza Domenica is one of my go-to restaurants in New Orleans when I'm looking for a meal with solid options for kids and adults.
- I needed vegetarian options on my last visit too, and Pizza Domenica in Lakeview ticked all the boxes.
Best bites: Whole roasted cauliflower ($19) with whipped feta dip.
- The cauliflower is cooked in white wine and is the right balance of savory with a little heat at the end. We shared this as an appetizer.
The intrigue: Chef Alon Shaya created this popular dish when he worked at Domenica under chef John Besh. Shaya and Besh parted ways in 2017 amid Besh's sexual harassment scandal.
- The cauliflower dish is still served at Domenica and Pizza Domenica, which are owned by Besh's BRG Hospitality.

Zoom out: The Italian chop salad (add housemade fennel sausage), cheese pizza, tutto carne pizza and white pizza are favorites with my family too.
If you go: Check out happy hour from 3-5pm Monday-Friday at Pizza Domenica. Pizzas, draft beer and wines are half price for dine-in only.
- The restaurant recently stopped doing pizza happy hour on the weekends, but you can still get frozen drink specials on Sundays.
Stop by: Pizza Domenica has Uptown and Lakeview locations. Both are walk-in only and don't take reservations.
