More students are enrolled in private schools in New Orleans than before the COVID pandemic started in 2022, according to the American Community Survey.
Why it matters: The number of students enrolled in private schools was higher in nearly every state and D.C. too.
The big picture: 26.1% of students in New Orleans metro were enrolled in private school for the 2022-2023 school year, according to the data.
It's up slightly from 25.4% in 2019 and surpasses the national average of 14.8%.
Statewide,20.9% of students were enrolled in private school from pre-K to 12th grade for the 2022 school year. It's the most amount since 2010.
Caveat: All states and metros are missing data for the 2020-2021 school year.
