Miami's latest food, beverage trends: lavish coffees, focus on condiments

The hottest trends in Miami's food and bev scene are dessert-like coffees, fancy French toasts and hard-to-get burgers, according to The Infatuation, the go-to site for food and drink reviews and recommendations.
Why it matters: Miami is a city of ever-changing trends, but The Infatuation's Q3 report released earlier this month, feels pretty spot on (to me at least).
State of play: Take the first trend, the "dessertification" of coffee (the most offensive trend!), which is most clearly on display at "coffee shops" (quotes used on purpose) like Studio 24 in Edgewater.
- The tiramisu latte is "filled to the brim with sweet cream and topped with a cocoa powder-dusted ladyfinger," per the Infatuation. (That's a no for me, but I'll let y'all debate if this is coffee or not amongst yourselves.)
Then there's the new burger trend and the condiment trend, which, surprisingly, don't overlap.
- Restaurants are offering their burgers only once a week or, if every day, only in certain areas, like the bar. (This doesn't bother me. I'm loyal to Over Under's burger.)
- The team also noticed more house-made, sometimes sellable sauces with custom labels and suggested food pairings. (Pari Pari's sauces had main-character-energy when I went.)
Finally, the site called North Miami the "next big eating" neighborhood, with restaurants like Edan Bistro, L'auberge, Four and others. (A good time to remind folks that North Miami and North Beach are different neighborhoods.)
The bottom line: It's unclear how long these trends — or the others listed in the report — will last in Miami's F&B scene before the next big thing comes along.
- For now, though, even I can (maybe) appreciate the creativity of some of these, despite my hatred for dessert-like coffees.
