ADL says Florida is one of nine states "leading" in fight against antisemitism

The big picture: States and universities are facing pressure to adopt laws and policies aimed at battling rising antisemitism, but critics say some of those recommendations may silence criticism of Israel.

State of play: Hate crimes in the United States last year hit their second-largest total since the FBI started keeping data, the agency said this week.

• In Florida, reports of antisemitic incidents have increased 31% since 2022, from 269 in 2022 to 353 in 2024, per the ADL.
• There was a 24% decrease last year compared to 2023, but ADL notes there was a spate of bomb threats targeting South Florida synagogues last June.

The ADL has faced criticism from some more left-leaning Jewish organizations over its annual tally of antisemitic incidents that also included campus rallies of students being critical of Israel.
