Brews on Tues: UIndy's official lager makes the dean's list

Brew of the week: The Loyal Hound from King Jugg Brewing, UIndy's official beer.

• The light lager made its debut Thursday night during a launch party at King Jugg Fishers in honor of the university's Homecoming Week.

• The can features Grady the Greyhound against the Indianapolis skyline, connecting the mascot with its hometown roots.
• The name nods to UIndy's alma mater and a promise to remain "Loyal to Crimson and the Grey."

My take: That's a good dog.

• The Loyal Hound is an easy choice for a game day beer. It's light without feeling like a compromise, and it won't overpower your plate of hot wings with a palate-demolishing aftertaste.
• Even as a proud Purdue alum, I have to admit that it edges out People's Brewing's Boiler Gold in my personal Indiana college beer bracket.
• It's still not touching Boiler Black, though.

How to try it: The Loyal Hound is available now at UIndy Athletics events. Four-packs can be purchased from King Jugg Brewing, 11110 Lantern Road in Fishers.

• Open 4-9pm Monday; 11am-9pm Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday; and 11am-10pm Thursday-Saturday.
