If you like carbs, one of Carmel's newest cafe options is an easy recommendation.
Driving the news: Paris Baguette made its Indiana debut in late April, settling in between the also new-ish Ben & Jerry's and Okonori Japanese locations near the corner of 116th Street and South Rangeline Road.
- The French-inspired bakery brand was founded in South Korea in the late 1980s, expanded to the U.S. in the mid-aughts and has plans to open multiple spots in Indiana over the next few years.
The vibe: Sleek, cozy and overflowing with options.
- Most of their massive menu of baked goods is served up buffet-style. Just grab a tray, some tongs and build your brunch.
- Cakes sold either whole or by the slice are ordered at the front counter.
What to order: The surprise standout of a first visit haul that included hash brown bread, New York-style cheesecake, chocolate chiffon cake and Korean iced milk coffee was the hot dog bread.
- Take all the things that make Korean corn dogs rule, and put it into a much lighter, flakier package. They're all good dogs, but this one gets a 11/10.
Yes, but: That's no shade to anything else in my tray. Especially that silky smooth chiffon cake.
- All the other items are worth a second order, and the only reason I'd pass on return is to dig into more of the menu.
