As the World Cup kicks off, Central Indiana has no shortage of bars, outdoor plazas and arenas turning every match into a community moment.
Why it matters: For the first time since 1994, the World Cup is on U.S. soil.
- Indianapolis isn't a host city, but its soccer infrastructure — anchored by the Indy Eleven, a nationally ranked bar scene and a convention-city culture — makes it a top viewing market in the Midwest.
Here are 9 places to catch the action.
Chatham Tap: The Mass Ave, Butler and Fishers locations of Indy's most iconic soccer bar promises "you will never watch alone" all tournament long.
- Click here for hours for each location.
Fishers Event Center: Hosting free, all-ages outdoor watch parties for all three U.S. group stage matches.
- June 12 (USA vs. Paraguay at 9pm), June 19 (USA vs. Australia at 3pm) and June 25 (USA vs. Turkey at 10pm).
- No tickets or registration required. Parking is free and lawn chairs are welcome.
Tom's Watch Bar: With more than 100 screens, VIP reserved seating and private party bookings, Tom's aims to be the downtown anchor for the full tournament.
Ale Emporium: The Castleton location is showing every match (and serving amazing wings) through the July 19 final.
- Games there kicked off May 31 with the U.S. pre-tournament friendly.
Bar Fogo at Fogo de Chão: Brazilian steakhouse going all-in on Brazil game days with specialty caipirinha cocktails and fire-roasted cuts for $54.
- The first watch party is 4:30-7:30pm Saturday.
BURN by Rocky Patel: Cigars, cocktails and soccer from Thursday through the final.
- The USA vs. Australia match at 3pm on June 19 rolls right into their happy hour at 4 PM.
Union Jack Pub: The English pub and World Cup staple in Broad Ripple is activating its patio and parking lot to pack in fans for Friday's USA vs. Paraguay match at 9pm, and will host bashes throughout the tournament.
Kona Grill: Carmel soccer fans will be able to catch every match at Kona's Clay Terrace location.
Tin Roof: Drink specials will be offered Sunday-Thursday, and every match will play on Tin Roof's big screen TVs through the final.
