Earth Day is Wednesday, and Indianapolis is marking it with plenty of ways to show the planet some love.
Why it matters: Events give residents an opportunity to have a positive impact on the environment as air quality throughout the region worsens.
๐ชฑ Brookside Park Family Center will present the free "Earthworm Appreciation Day" event from 5 to 6pm on Wednesday.
- Register here to enjoy crafts, gummy worm soil pudding and relay races for all ages.
๐งน Ellenberger Park's community Earth Day celebration from 5:30 to 7:30pm on Wednesday will start with a cleanup walk around the park.
- Be sure to bring comfy shoes, gloves and a positive attitude.
๐ฆ Eagle Creek Park is hosting a bird hike at the Ornithology Center starting at 5pm on Wednesday.
- Hike with binoculars while cleaning up the park and possibly pulling some garlic mustard. Included with park admission.
๐ฅ The final Indy Winter Farmers Market at The AMP starts at 9:30am Saturday.
- It includes a free seedling tree giveaway in celebration of Earth Day.
๐ผ๏ธ Newfields' Earth Day Extravaganza runs from 10am to 4pm Saturday.
- Create art, listen to music and learn meaningful ways to live more sustainably.
- Tickets start at $23 for adults and $15 for kids ages 6-17.
๐ Earth Day Indiana's 36th Annual EarthFest takes place May 30 at Garfield Park.
- The free festival features more than 80 exhibitors, live music, food trucks and a beer garden.
