Telling the story of Hoosier music history

Driving the news: Video interviews with 50 key players from the state's music scene have been completed.

• From musicians to those working behind the scenes, the interviews offer a rare glimpse at the evolution of Indiana's music culture.
• The project was supported by a grant from the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation, and the organization is providing an additional grant to capture 25 more interviews throughout 2026.

What they're saying: "This is a massive undertaking for our staff, volunteers and video production partners at Image Resources," Indiana Music History Project executive director Rick Wilkerson said in a statement. "This collection ensures that the musicians and pioneers who made Indiana's music what it is today will never be forgotten."

How it works: The collected interviews are rolling out on the project's website now.

• The first eight include individuals like original member of The Gizmos Eddie Flowers, jazz legend Billy Foster and rockabilly trailblazer Art Adams.
• Each interview will be accompanied by a brief highlights video, photographs and other related materials.
• Viewers can also watch new releases and highlights on the project's Facebook and Instagram pages.

What's next: Along with conducting 25 more interviews, next year will also see the stories turned into short radio programs that will be available for free to non-commercial radio stations.
