Tuesday is Veterans Day, honoring those who have served in the military.
By the numbers: In Indiana, veterans make up about 5.9% of the civilian population, according to the latest census data.
The big picture: Free Veterans Day events recognizing those Hoosiers are taking place in Indianapolis.
The Indiana War Memorial will host a Veterans Day service that begins at 11am with guest speakers, a wreath laying and a flyover performed by the Indiana National Guard.
The Veterans Day Parade will begin at noon at Michigan and Pennsylvania streets.
The parade route surrounds the Legion Mall and Indiana War Memorial by going south on Pennsylvania, west on New York Street and north on Meridian Street.
