The Indiana Fever are hoping to shock the WNBA once again — this time on their home court.
Why it matters: A blowout loss to the Las Vegas Aces Tuesday night in Game 2 hasn't shaken the team's resolve or resilience.
State of play: The best-of-five series between Indiana and Las Vegas is tied at 1-1.
- That means if the Fever can string together back-to-back wins in Games 3 and 4 at home this weekend, they'll be heading to the WNBA Finals for the first time in 10 years to play either the Minnesota Lynx or the Phoenix Mercury.
What they're saying: "I think it's going to be great. Our fans, they show up and they show out," forward Aliyah Boston said in the aftermath of the team's Game 2 loss. "So for us, using our energy but also using the energy in the crowd, I think it's going to be really great for us."
- "To be able to have two more for our fans that have been there with us all season … really excited for that," guard Lexie Hull added. "We definitely do feed off of their energy so (we're) really looking forward to it."
The intrigue: The Fever are making a playoff run without the help of some of their biggest stars, thanks in part to the leadership of WNBA MVP finalist Kelsey Mitchell.
- The All-Star guard set a record for most points scored by a WNBA player in her first career semifinal game when she dropped 34 points to help the Fever upset the Aces in Game 1.
- She also broke a two-decade-long Fever record set by Tamika Catchings for regular-season points per game with 20.2, and is second in the league in 2025 playoff scoring by averaging 23.4 points per game.
- The only player ahead of her is Aces star and four-time league MVP A'ja Wilson, who is averaging 25.8 points a game this postseason.
Flashback: The last Fever playoff game in Indianapolis was the first since 2016, and it could go down as one of the biggest postseason wins in team history.
- After trailing for nearly 30 minutes in Game 3 of their opening series against Atlanta, the Fever went on a stunning 7-0 run in the final two minutes to win by two points.
