Indy Jazz Fest returns to wrap up the summer

What they're saying: "We strive to program a wide selection of styles under the 'jazz' umbrella, appealing to many demographics throughout the community, and encourage people to use this opportunity to experience perennial favorites and explore new sounds," Indy Jazz Fest director David Allee said in a statement.

Driving the news: Starting Tuesday, the festival's "Sunset Series" will bring performances to Jazz Kitchen, The Cabaret and Butler's Schrott Center for the Arts.

• The Grand Finale at Everwise Amphitheater will bring the festivities to a close on Sept. 20.
• This year's Grand Finale headliners are Brian Culbertson, Grammy-winner Terence Blanchard featuring the E-Collective, Judith Hill, and Nicole Henry featuring Indy Jazz Fest All-Stars.

Zoom in: The event also includes the Naptown Block Party from 5-11pm Friday at Jazz Kitchen.

• Dubbed the Indy Jazz Fest's official kickoff, the block party features one-off performances from established and emerging local talent on two stages.
