Bars dedicated to women's sportsare having a moment — and Indy's joining in.
Why it matters: With viewership and attendance for women's sports soaring, fans are building new hubs that are about more than simply watching games.
Driving the news: The Sports Bra, a Portland-based bar dedicated to exclusively showing women's sports, announced new locations in Indianapolis, Boston, Las Vegas and St. Louis.
Dates for the franchise openings haven't been set yet.
The big picture: Six women's sports bars have opened nationally this year, with as many as 17 on the way in various stages of funding and construction and more planned for next year.
What they're saying: "We're serving fans nationwide who are hungry for spaces that not only champion women's sports, but create a community where everyone feels like they belong," founder and CEO Jenny Nguyen said in a news release. "There is no better moment than this to open these place."
What to expect: The food and drink menu will follow Portland's, with vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free options, while giving operators the flexibility to spotlight local food and drink producers.
