From fearless starship captains to annoying assistants to the regional manager, this year's Indiana Comic Con guest list spans the pop culture gamut.
Why it matters: The three-day event is one of the Indiana Convention Center's most anticipated annual attractions, and this year's gathering is expected to draw more than 30,000 fans.
Between the lines: While the word "comic" is on the marquee, this convention celebrates the stars of film, television, music, comedy and gaming.
Plus: Local creators who dream of becoming the next big thing in pop culture can hone their skills via workshops focused on fantasy writing, content creation and cosplays.
Here are seven Indiana Comic Con highlights for convention returnees and first-timers.
💼 Make "The Office" references with Dwight Schrute
The intrigue: As one of the most quotable characters from one of the most popular sitcoms ever, Rainn Wilson's portrayal of Dunder Mifflin's top salesman has become the standard for coworkers you love to hate.
🐒 Go ape with Andy Serkis
The intrigue: The man who has breathed life into CGI characters Gollum from "The Lord of the Rings" film trilogy and Caesar in the "Planet of the Apes" reboot trilogy will explain his award-winning approach to motion capture.
🙌 Reunited, and it feels so good
The intrigue: Reunion panels all weekend will bring together cast members from "Twilight," "Cobra Kai" and "X-Men: The Animated Series."
📺 Bust some ghosts with Ernie Hudson
The intrigue: Find out how Hudson has stayed in top spirit-slaying shape more than 40 years after he first picked up a proton pack.
🎮 Get in some gaming
The intrigue: Those seeking competition will have the chance to take on other attendees in "Mario Kart 8," "Street Fighter 6" and "Rock Band."
🦸 Change into your super suit
The intrigue: The convention center will be bursting with cosplay meetups for Disney, Star Wars, Power Rangers and dozens of other franchises.
🖖 Beam up with Captain Kirk
The intrigue: William Shatner will touch down in Indy to take fans through his legendary acting career.
💭 Justin's thought bubble: As someone who loves video game music, the "Extra Lives: Interactive Video Games Concert" on Sunday morning sounds like a can't miss.
If you go: The Indiana Comic Convention runs Friday through Sunday at the Indiana Convention Center, 100 S. Capitol Ave.
- The show is open 12:30-10pm Friday, 10:30am-10pm Saturday and 10:30am-5pm Sunday.
- Daily passes for Friday and Sunday start at $35, and a daily pass for Saturday begins at $49. Three-day general admission is $68.
