Hoosiers are being asked to choose Indiana's next senator as Election Day arrives on Tuesday.
Why it matters: Control of Congress is at stake this year.
What's happening: After nearly eight years in Congress, Republican U.S. Rep. Jim Banks is looking to assume the Senate seat Republican Sen. Mike Braun vacated to run for governor.
Banks, a military veteran who served in Afghanistan, is a rising conservative voice and the front-runner in the race with a huge fundraising advantage.
He's stayed in lockstep with former President Trump and could be a strong ally in the Senate if both are elected.
The other side: Democrat Valerie McCray, a psychologist from Indianapolis, made history as the first Black woman to become a major party's nominee for the U.S. Senate in Indiana. It's not her first campaign, though. She ran a long-shot bid for president as an independent in 2020.
