Despite Week 4 injuries suffered by a pair of their most important offensive stars, the 2-2 Colts are in prime position to pick up their third straight win this weekend against the 0-4 Jacksonville Jaguars.
The big picture: Sunday's game against the only remaining winless team in the NFL kicks off a three-week stretch of very winnable games for the Colts.
- The Colts play the Titans (1-3) and the Dolphins (1-3) in Week 6 and Week 7.
- In Week 8, they get another shot at the Texans (3-1) who beat the Colts at home to start the season and extended the team's Week 1 winless streak to 11 years.
Yes, but: Quarterback Anthony Richardson and running back Jonathan Taylor both left last week's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with injuries and are questionable heading into Week 5.
What they're saying: "It's a long season. You start off 0-2 and there's all the narratives … you can lose two in a row Week 10 or Week 11. We just happened to do it the first two weeks," Colts head coach Shane Steichen said Wednesday. "Now we're sitting at .500 and I like the way our team (has) been battling."
The intrigue: The latest NFL power rankings saw the Colts climb two spots to 16th out of 32 teams with analysts noting how Indy turned an 0-2 start "on its head" and are in position to make the AFC South a two-horse race between the Colts and Texans.
- However, they say keeping Richardson healthy will be a big part of the Colts' ability to make that happen.
- The Jags, meanwhile, dropped two spots and now sit at the bottom of the rankings as the worst team in the league.
Zoom in: The latest Colts injury report is headlined by Richardson and Taylor.
- It also includes linebacker Zaire Franklin; center Ryan Kelly; defensive end Kwity Paye; cornerback Kenny Moore II; tackle Braden Smith; and linebacker Grant Stuard.
Flashback: The Colts trail the all-time series with the Jaguars 27-19.
- Their last game on Oct. 15, 2023, ended with the Colts losing 20-37.
What's next: Kickoff is 1pm Sunday.
