The Indianapolis Colts are looking to bounce back from their 11th-straight Week 1 loss by trampling some cheeseheads.
Why it matters: The Colts head to Wisconsin this weekend to face a Green Bay Packers team recovering from its own season-opening heartbreak after losing a close one to the Eagles.
What they're saying: Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson — who had three touchdowns and one interception last weekend — is excited to be competing on the Packers' historic home turf, not just for its significance, but because of the timing.
- "I'm a Florida guy and I know it gets real cold there and I don't want to be freezing my butt off. So I appreciate us playing them early," he said with a smile while speaking to reporters this week.
Setting expectations: The latest NFL power rankings put the Colts 22nd out of 32 teams with analysts praising the degree of difficulty on some of the passes made by Richardson against the Texans last week.
- But missed throws, poor tackling and a lack of efficiency are problems that need fixing in Week 2.
- The Packers, meanwhile, are ranked 11th with their biggest issue being Malik Willis needing to prepare for starting QB duty on short notice if starter Jordan Love, who was injured in last week's game, can't play.
State of play: The Colts have a slight edge in their history with the Packers, leading the all-time series 24-21-1.
- Their last game on Nov. 22, 2020 ended with the Colts winning 43-31 in overtime.
- Sunday's game is Green Bay's home opener, and the Packers have won 11 home openers in a row.
Zoom in: The latest Colts injury report includes safety Julian Blackmon, defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, wide receiver Josh Downs, kicker Matt Gay and defensive end Kwity Paye.
What's next: Kick off is at 1pm Sunday.
