This comedy show is creating stars — and coming to a secret location in Indy this week

How it works: Founded in 2017, the company creates pop-up comedy shows in unique, nontraditional locations like candy stores, rock-climbing gyms and luxury suites at baseball stadiums.

• When you buy a ticket to a show, the only information provided is the date, time and city.
• The specific location of the performance is revealed a few hours before showtime.
• Founder and comedian Kyle Kazanjian-Amory says venues are scouted by local comics who are hired to produce each show.

Zoom out: In 2022, Don't Tell Comedy began posting clips on Instagram and TikTok (where most people watch stand-up today) and producing short-form comedy specials on its YouTube channel, which has over 1.6 million subscribers.

• For some comics, going viral online has led to millions of followers and HBO and Netflix specials.

Zoom in: Indy's next show is Friday in Broad Ripple. The website says the 21 and up event will be at an indoor location that is wheelchair accessible, and allows outside food and drinks.

• Future shows are scheduled for Sept. 27 at an outdoor location in Fountain Square and Nov. 15 at an indoor location in Broad Ripple.

What they're saying: "You're able to go to a place that's very familiar, but for an experience that is unfamiliar to that space," Kazanjian-Amory told Axios.
