Happy hour in Indy: Moscow mules at Matt the Miller's

The vibe: The bar blends old-school leather and wood with modern sports bar touches like a quartet of flat-screen TVs.

What to try: The best part of the post-work offerings is the variety.

• From $1 off all beers to $5 house wines, they've probably got something you'll like. I pulled up for a pair of $6 mules.

My take: Their traditional Moscow mule is a refreshing blend of vodka, lime juice and ginger beer that packs the expected punch.

• The Caribbean mule mixes Sailor Jerry, mango puree, lime juice and ginger beer.
• I preferred the Caribbean to the original, but that's because I really like mango, which was the dominant flavor.

Zoom out: The rest of their happy hour drink menu includes $1 off all wine pours, $6 margaritas and $6 featured cocktails.

• Food deals include discounts on pretzel bites, tavern chips, sautéed edamame, buffalo chicken wings/strips and half flatbreads.
