Coat Check expands menu beyond coffee

Flashback: Coat Check was opened in 2017 by brothers Neal and Paul Warner.

• They later opened Provider, Landlocked Baking Co., Chalet and Strangebird.
• In April, Neal announced they were closing all but Strangebird, with Coat Check and Provider transitioning to new ownership.

The latest: Now operated and managed by the Athenaeum Foundation, Coat Check has an expanded food menu with items like a currywurst croissant roll and cucumber sandwich.

• Classic cocktails like the mai tai and an espresso martini have been added, too, as well as unique drinks, beer and wine.
• The sleeping lotus pairs gin with a house-made lavender sauce and a twist on a gin and tonic has green tea and mint.

Yes, and: The baked goods you know and love — croissants, cookies and the insanely good vegan cake — are still on offer.

Arika's thought bubble: I tried the veg-friendly cucumber sandwich, which comes on pillowy house-made focaccia, with pickled carrot ribbons, cucumbers and a dill cream cheese.

• The sleeping lotus is a whole (delicious) vibe, though. Afternoon cocktail meeting, anyone?
