Indiana Fever back in action after WNBA Olympic break

Driving the news: The Olympics put a month-long pause on regular WNBA competition that ends tomorrow night with three primetime games.

• The Fever hit the court Friday to host a Phoenix Mercury (13-12) team that was 5-5 over their last 10 games going into the break.
• The Fever (11-15) set the same 5-5 mark before the pause, and the team believes a break is needed to get better.

What they're saying: "I think the Olympic break definitely does help for a team that hasn't been together for a long time, like us," Fever guard Erica Wheeler told reporters after a recent practice. "To be able to get these practices and be able to get some real runs in and really hit it hard and have days off I think is super important."

• "You get to work on all the small things," added forward NaLyssa Smith. "Our main focus right now is defense. We know our offense will come, so that's our biggest focus."
