Rocking Socks and Sandals with Indiana's Bad Dad Brewing

• The "You're Grounded, Mister" stout. The "Running With Scissors" IPA. The "Dude Abides" pilsner. All winners.

Brew of the week: Socks and Sandals — a blonde ale that pairs nicely with cargo shorts, a grill that is WAY too hot and lots of stories that start with "back in my day."

• 5.1% ABV.
• Approachable and chuggable with a refreshing level of carbonation and a color that looks great in your favorite pint glass.

My take: A laid-back flavor that comes and goes. The brewery describes it as "light and easygoing without a single care in the world," and I felt that as each icy sip cut through the sweltering summer heat.

• For maximum effect, crack open a cold one at the end of a long day with salty snacks or spicy wings within reach.

Zoom in: I really like talking to strangers, hence the whole reporter gig, and Bad Dad's bold, high-contrast cans are sure to be instant conversation starters at your next kickback.
