7 Indianapolis turkey trots to run this Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is fast approaching. Indy residents (or visitors!) looking to move before the big meal have plenty of options.

What's happening: Turkey trots! The longstanding tradition of holding fun runs and races the morning of the holiday.

Zoom in: Here are nine runs scheduled in the Indianapolis metro this year:

🍗 Wheeler Mission Drumstick Dash: 9am at Broad Ripple Park. $42 for adults, $37 for children 8-12, free for kids 7 and younger.

  • 4.3 mile "full gobbler" or 2.6 mile "mini gobbler" options.

🏃‍♂️ Indianapolis Turkey Trot 5K Walk/Run: 8:30am at Crown Hill Cemetery, starting at the north gate on Clarendon Road.

  • Same day registration starts at 7:30am. $20/person or $50/family.

👟 Baxter YMCA Family Fun Turkey Run— 4 mile Run/Walk: 8:30am at Perry Meridian High School.

  • 1 mile kid-friendly option. $39.

❤️ Bolt for the Heart — Thanksgiving Day 5K Run/Walk: 9am at Carter Green in Carmel. $40.

🔥 Turkey Burn 5K Run/Walk: 9am at Craig Park, Greenwood. $35 for adults.

  • $15 kid run for 12 and under starts at 8:30am.

🦃 Turkey Day 5K: 9am at Greenfield Christian Church. $40 or $30 for 1 mile walk option.

🐔 Gobble Gallop 5K: 8am at Hendricks Regional Health YMCA in Avon. $39.

🥧 Lebanon Gravy Chase 5K Run/Walk: 8:30am at the Town Square in Lebanon. $30.

🍽️ Zionsville Gravy Chase 2 and 4 mile Run/Walk: 8:30am at intersection of Main and Cedar streets in Zionsville. $40.
