If you are curious about how the other half* lives, Friday is your day.
- *By half we really mean the top, like, 1%.
Driving the news: The 151-acre RH (formerly Restoration Hardware) gallery at the estate of late philanthropist Christel DeHaan opens at 11am Friday.
Catch up fast: The property located at 4501 N. Michigan Road made history last year when it sold for $14.5 million, making it the highest-selling residential property in state history.
- DeHaan, who died in June 2020, co-founded the Indiana-based timeshare company Resort Condominiums International, which she sold for $825 million in 1996.
- She was well-known for her philanthropic work, including Christel House International, the nonprofit she started to educate children in high poverty areas.
The latest: The 42,000-square-foot villa's 60 rooms will serve as a furniture showroom and interior design gallery.
- A restaurant and wine bar will overlook a 35-acre private lake with adjacent formal gardens and forest landscapes.
If you go: RH Indianapolis will be open 11am to 8pm Monday-Saturday and 11am to 5pm Sunday.
