👋 Jay here! Sports stadium fare is usually overpriced and can be gimmicky, but the World Cup's themed bites at Houston Stadium hit the spot.
Dig in: Concourse vendors are offering a range of international flavors inside the stadium for the tournament, including peri peri chicken nachos and various Tex-Mex concoctions.
What to order: The Tex-Mex hot dog ($12.59) was the clear winner for me. A traditional dog topped with chili, queso and pico de gallo, it was a messy but satisfying quick few bites.
I also tried the Tex-Mex nachos ($16.95) and "fluffy" tacos ($15.99). The nachos were just nachos, though they came in a souvenir container.
My first thought biting into the fluffy taco was "I'm eating Taco Bell at the World Cup." Interpret that how you wish. I wasn't necessarily complaining.
The bottom line: You're not going to Houston Stadium for the food, but we all gotta eat.
