Volaris launched two new nonstop routes from Houston this week: to Querétaro and Puebla, Mexico.
Why it matters: The new service expands Houston's air connectivity with Mexico, one of the city's strongest international business, tourism and cultural partners.
Zoom in: Flights to Querétaro operate Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while flights to Puebla operate Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Both routes take about three hours from George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
United Airlines flies direct on both routes daily, but with higher fares. Budget airline Viva Aerobus flies nonstop between Houston and Querétaro on Thursdays and Sundays.
Flashback: Frontier Airlines expanded nonstop service from Houston in December, adding flights to Guatemala City, Guatemala; San Salvador, El Salvador; and San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
Last summer, Volaris expanded service to Morelia and San Luis Potosí in Mexico.
