👋 Jay here! While my colleague Carlie Kollath Wells at Axios New Orleans couldn't finish Netflix's new hurricane-shark crossover disaster flick "Thrash," it was the perfect amount of cheese for me.
The big picture: The movie centers on reluctant (and not-so-reluctant) residents of a South Carolina town trapped in the storm surge of a Category 5 hurricane.
To make matters worse, a tanker in the middle of town that's for some reason filled with swine and bovine blood suddenly ruptures in the floodwater and attracts killer sharks. Netflix-grade gore, justice and hope ensue.
Reality check: Anxiety around the real, fast-approaching hurricane season is no joke, especially for folks on the Gulf Coast.
Yes, but: As a kid who grew up watching "The Day After Tomorrow" and other B-list, unbelievable disaster movies on repeat, "Thrash" hit that nail right on the head.
