👋 Shafaq here! I usually drive to Asiatown for stellar dim sum, but Silk Road brings it inside the loop — tucked inside the lobby of a Courtyard by Marriott.
Dig in: Silk Road Asian Tapas Bar opened earlier this year, offering upscale dim sum in West University.
Chef Thawatchai Insingha, a dim sum master with more than 20 years of experience, has led teams at several prestigious Chinese restaurants in Bangkok — including one that earned a Michelin star.
My experience: While costly, everything was delicious and done to perfection. The mushroom bao ($13 for 3) was a standout — shaped like a mushroom and so flavorful my friends and I ordered seconds.
Cordycep dumplings ($12 for 3), custard bao (pillowy and perfectly sweet, 3 for $10), and cheung fun (silky rice noodles with shrimp and veggie options, $13 for 4) were all group favorites.
The creative drinks menu adds to the fun.
If you go: 2929 Westpark Dr., open Tuesday and Friday-Sunday.
The dining room can fill quickly, so make reservations.
