It's National Dog Day, when we celebrate all the good boys and girls out there — including the many French bulldogs around here.
The big picture: The French bulldog is the top dog breed in Houston, according to a new U.S. News & World Report analysis.
German shepherds come in second, and Labrador retrievers come in third.
The fine print: The annual report relies on pet insurance data, so it doesn't account for all dogs in the country.
Zoom out: Across Texas, Chihuahuas hold the crown, followed by German shepherds and Labradors retrievers.
Nationally, the Labrador retriever reclaimed the No. 1 spot this year after analysts grouped Labs of all colors together. Last year, "Labs" and "black Labs" were split into different categories, which dropped their overall ranking.
The Chihuahua, last year's national No. 1, now sits in second place.
