Fllingy out of IAH exceeds the national average

A domestic flight out of Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport exceeds the national average by about 25 bucks.

By the numbers: Average domestic airfare out of IAH was $392 in the third quarter of 2024, per the latest Transportation Department data. That's the same cost as the average flight out of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

• The two airports rank 11th and 10th most expensive, respectively, among domestic airports in Q3 2024.
• A trip out of Houston's Hobby Airport was just over $341, and trips from Austin and San Antonio's airports each cost roughly $384.

Caveat: This is a snapshot in time, and airfare for some destinations can rise and fall over the year. Plus, lots of factors affect airports' average fares.
