Trying the cotton candy bacon at RodeoHouston

My experience: From the first bite to the last, the treat provided a perfectly hyperbolic pairing of sweet and savory.

• Though a little too sweet-sounding for some of my family members who were with me that day — including two of three young niblings — I'd recommend everyone try it at least once.
• My 14-year-old niece, the only one to take the plunge with me, rated it 6 out of 10 and said it's "very sweet and salty at the same time, with a hint of tart. The sweetness adds a punch to the taste." How could you argue with that?

The bottom line: At $16, you sure do get a honkin' piece of bacon. Just make sure to eat it before the cotton candy melts entirely.
