Houston Television partners with autism nonprofit

The big picture: HTV broadcasts city meetings and original programming produced by a team of media professionals employed by the city.

• As part of the partnership, the nonprofit's Spectrum Fusion Studios will train individuals in film production and editing.
• After the training, participants will have a chance at an internship with HTV, working on "City Pulse," a show highlighting city departments and services.

What's next: After the internship, Spectrum Fusion will work with the Houston Mayor's Office of People with Disabilities to help participants network and find a job.

Between the lines: Neurodivergent individuals possess "unique talents and viewpoints" in creative fields, Ham said, which is apparent in the partnership.
