Houston's been spared a snow day, but amid the chilly weather, we decided to look back and see when our all-time snowfall record was set.
How it works: The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) captures snowfall maximums from each county, along with the exact measurement location.
NOAA records date back to as early as 1870, when the National Weather Service was established.
Zoom in: Harris County's one-day snowfall record was set on Feb. 15, 1895, with 19 inches.
Stunning stat: Boulder County, Colorado, holds the U.S. record for most recorded snowfall in a single day, with 76 inches — over 6 feet! — on April 15, 1921.
What's next: Relatively chilly weather still lies ahead, but freezing temperatures aren't in the forecast for next week.
