Houston Roughnecks announce 2025 schedule

Why it matters: With new turf this year, the Roughnecks have nowhere to go but up after last year's abysmal, one-win finish.

Driving the news: The team released its 2025 season schedule last week and will host the St. Louis Battlehawks on March 28 on the UH campus.

The intrigue: The team has been reconfiguring its roster in the offseason in hopes of turning the page on a losing season.

• Houston signed running backs Morgan Ellison and ZaQuandre White as well as center Avery Jones and defensive back Rayshad Williams in recent weeks.

The big picture: The 2025 season marks the second year of the Roughnecks playing in the UFL, an eight-team professional league formed by the merger of USFL and the XFL in late 2023.

• The Roughnecks were one of four teams selected from the USFL to continue playing in the new league.

Go deeper: Houston will play five matches at home in April and May before the 10-game regular season ends in early June.

• Then, the top two teams in each conference will square off June 8 for a chance to play in the UFL championship June 14.

How to go: Single-game tickets aren't yet available, but the team is selling a season ticket package starting at $110.
