Guide to Houston's 75th annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade

What to expect: The processions will salute Houston-area Paris Olympians and Paralympians and will include a special performance of "Bring It On: The Musical" by Theatre Under the Stars.

• Spanning over 20 city blocks, the free event will showcase elaborate floats, high-stepping marching bands, large balloons and, of course, Santa Claus.
• Street closures around the route start at 6am, with all streets expected to reopen by 3pm.

Flashback: This parade began in 1949 when Santa arrived at Union Station and rode his sleigh to the downtown Foley's department store — making it one of the oldest Thanksgiving Day parades in the country.

If you go: The parade will begin on Smith at Lamar and end at Smith and Dallas.
