Houston scientists to study Blue Origin spaceflight passengers

Driving the news: Blue Origin, owned by billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, will rocket six civilian passengers just above the Kármán line, the point where space begins about 62 miles above the Earth.

• The journey will last 11 minutes which includes several minutes of weightlessness.

What they're saying: "New data from suborbital flights builds our understanding of how the human body responds to spaceflight," TRISH deputy director and Baylor assistant professor Jimmy Wu said.

• "This holistic view is key in keeping humans healthy and safe in space."

What's next: The launch is planned for Friday morning from Blue Origin's facilities north of Van Horn and will be livestreamed.
