👋 Shafaq here! I went to the Houston Symphony this weekend for the "Jazz, Love & Gershwin" performance.
What happened: Marcus Roberts Trio and Grammy Award-winning jazz singer Catherine Russell played songs by composer George Gershwin with the orchestra.
My thought bubble: This was my first time back at the symphony after several years, and I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed how the orchestra complemented the jazz performers — especially their "Rhapsody in Blue" rendition.
And I was charmed by conductor Steven Reineke and how he'd share nuggets of information about the songs.
