Driving the visit: Pythagoras serves fun, plant-based American food with some Persian influence. There are burgers, kabobs, pizzas, gyros and more. There's also live music on Fridays.
Of note: The philosopher Pythagoras was apparently vegetarian, hence the name.
My experience: This place was quirky, and I enjoyed it. I get the whole galactic cuisine spin — some of the combinations are fun, wild and out of this world.
I ordered the Prometheus burger ($23), which had a kabob koobideh patty on a toasted pretzel bun. It was refreshing to have a housemade patty instead of an Impossible or Beyond patty. The burger flavors more than made up for the slightly stale fries.
The cheese on the burger — and my friend's chicken Alfredo pizza ($19) I tasted — had some pull. Always impressive for vegan cheese.
Plus: If you're feeling adventurous, there's also the Ahura Mazda burger ($44), which has two 5-inch pizzas as the buns with two kabob koobideh patties.
If you go: 14019 Parkway Blvd. in Sugar Land.
