National Weather Service meteorologists say low-lying and flood-prone areas could see standing water as a series of showers makes its way through Houston this morning and in the coming days.
As for Brays Bayou, it was well within its banks when I snapped this photo during a break in the rain yesterday afternoon — but it stands as a stark reminder that Houston remains a city threatened by flooding.
Be smart: If you encounter standing water, do not attempt to drive through it.
