Help us find Metro Detroit's best shop pets

👋 Annalise here, watching too many bodega cat videos on Instagram and dreaming of visiting some shop pets myself.

Why it matters: These pets often become a sort of mascot for their store, welcoming customers and creating memorable experiences.

Metro Detroit may not have NYC's bodega culture, but we definitely have some beloved animals hanging out at stores — I just need to find the little cuties.

Zoom in: Darla, a much-loved feline resident of the Cass Corridor's Temple Bar, comes to mind first. She died in 2024 at age 22.

I've also personally greeted the resident dogs at the Bearded Lady barber shop in Corktown.

📬 Email [email protected] and tell us: Where are the best shop pets in Metro Detroit? Is there one you see regularly, or does your store have one?

I'll go visit and write about some of your answers. Please include your first name and last initial.
