Whether you love being scared out of your wits or prefer perusing pumpkin patches, we have ideas for how to spend your Halloween season.
Here are all the ways we're celebrating spooky month in Metro Detroit:
🏚️ Haunted houses, mazes and more:
- Blake's Haunted Big Apple: Try everything from a haunted hayride, zombie paintball and a three-story haunted barn to the family-friendly Spookyland with a corn maze and petting zoo in Armada.
- Hush: This Westland haunted house complex offers three experiences for one ticket — a haunted movie theater, a graveyard and a crumbling old mansion — as well as bars with themed drinks.
- Eloise Asylum: This haunted house in the former Eloise psychiatric hospital in Westland sprawls across 54,000 square feet.
- Erebus: Open since 2000, four-floor Erebus in Pontiac may be the region's most famous haunted house.
- Azra Haunted House: In Madison Heights, Azra transformed a laser tag arena into four haunted houses with different themes. The complex also has pumpkin smashing and a bar.
- Scarefest Scream Park: Find a mix of haunts — a hayride, castle, forest walk and maze — in Lenox.
- Zoo Boo: Grab brews and tour the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak around dusk with Halloween decorations. Family-friendly, too.
🎃 Pumpkin picking:
- DeBuck's Family Farm: Pick pumpkins, enjoy fall treats, go down a giant slide and get lost in a corn maze in Belleville.
- Long Family Orchard: Take a hayride to pick pumpkins in Commerce Township. Also expect a petting zoo and treats.
🎥 Big screen:
- Redford Theatre: Spooky-season movie showings range from "Casper" and "Young Frankenstein" to "Scream" and "The Fly" in Detroit's Old Redford neighborhood.
- Senate Theater: "Drag Me to Hell," "The Shining," horror short films and more in southwest Detroit.
🪦 Tours and history:
- Detroit Ghost Tour: Walk through Midtown on a 2-mile tour of historic and purportedly haunted locations.
- Mythos Museum of Oddities and Curiosities: This museum in Pontiac houses strange historical items and horror memorabilia, including hundreds of masks, vintage funeral artifacts and ancient skulls.
- Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village: Limited tickets are left for this popular historical Halloween event with lantern-lit streets, costumed characters and old, witchy customs on display.
- Elmwood Alight: Experience historic Elmwood Cemetery in Detroit after dark with art installations, sound and music, refreshments and lighting displays.
