Readers slam U-M's grade-covering plan

Readers overwhelmingly criticized the plan:

Kathleen R: "Let’s give every kid a medal no matter how poorly they perform. If we keep moving reality further away, kids will never make it in the real working world." 

Jeffrey M: "Let’s also give puppies to the U-M students. Are they preparing them for today's workforce?"

Rebecca W: "If I simply had to pass classes, I wouldn't have had to study much, probably wouldn't have really learned the material, and would have had more time to goof off and develop not-so-good habits."

Thomas S: "I believe it is the responsibility of a university to prepare its students for the world they will face when they graduate. The real world does not operate on pass/fail."

Poly E: "This to me seems totally absurd and I wonder if the university also gives them a significant discount on tuition (to reduce financial stress, of course) for their 'no grades'?"
